In the beauty business, people tell us all the time what their skin type is. And so often they are way off! Women with skin that was oily as a teenager, will tell you they are still oily in spite of the fact that their skin is actually flaking. Other women will tell you that their skin is VERY sensitive and yet they get regular micro-dermabrasion, and chemical peels.
Here is a little quiz to help you understand your skins needs better.

If you answered mostly A's you are normal to oily, you will do best with a foaming cleanser, exfoliating twice a week, a light oil free sunscreen moisturizer in the day, and a SLIGHTLY richer lotion at night.
If you answered mostly B's you are a traditional combination skin type. You will likely need to treat your skin as if it were oilier in the summer, and drier in the winter. You will need to be the most adaptable in the group/
If you answered mostly C's you are normal to dry. Try using a creamy rinse off cleanser. Sunscreen with moisture in the daytime, and a richer night cream at night. You will also do well with glycolic or enzyme exfoliation treatments as opposed to scrubs.
If you answered mostly D's you are dry to mature skin. Creamy cleansers are your friends. You may consider using a richer day cream in addition to your moisturizer. Lavish yourself in a wonderful night cream. And steer clear of physical exfoliants. Stick with acids and enzymes. If you have any broken capillaries, choose an enzyme exfoliant, it will be less irritating.
And regardless of your skin type, EVERYONE should apply eye cream, and sunscreen. PERIOD, no ifs ands or buts. If your dermatologist tells you to steer clear of an ingredient, have them suggest an alternative. And everyones skin looks better with a healthy diet and lots of water and sleep!
